April 10th is usually the 100th day of the year (101st during leap years). It is also the anniversary of the momentous occasion of my birth. Though it isn’t celebrated on the [inter]national scale that it surely will be one day, it’s still pretty darn special, and here are a few reasons why (and just some tidbits of trivia that I find interesting):
Events:
*1606—the Charter of the Virginia Company of London is established by royal charter by James I of England with the purpose of establishing colonial settlements in North America.
*1710—the first law regulating copyright is issued in Great Britain.
*1790—The U.S. Patent system is established.
*1866—The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is founded in New York City by Henry Bergh (I <3> animals!).
*The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is first published in New York City by Charles Scribner’s Sons.
*1979—On “Terrible Tuesday”, a tornado lands in Wichita Falls, TX killing 42 people. (I used to live here, so it makes the list).
*1998—The Belfast Agreement is signed
*2008--Diana Miller makes a final decision regarding law schools and sends in her deposit to Seattle University.
Births:
*1389—Cosimo de Medici (patriarch of the very powerful and endlessly fascinating Medici family who ruled Florence during most of the Italian Renaissance.)
*1847—Joseph Pulitzer
*1932—Omar Sharif (actor)
*1951—Steven Seagal
*1958—Babyface
*1959—Brian Setzer
*1984—Mandy Moore
*1988—Haley Joel Osment

Congrats on picking a school. Seattle is nice, if depressing for 1/2 the year.
